Busy week

So, besides getting back into the school stuff regularly, I learned a few things this week:

Meggan 'eats' electricity. No, I don't understand it either. Hopefully between Moira's tests and the language-dump Nate gave her, we'll get an explanation. Just... watch her round power outlets. It doesn't hurt her, but I'd rather save on the panic.

Parallel parking isn't as hard as I thought it was. Tho' there's a few squashed traffic cones that might say otherwise.

Apparently I wasn't that far off with the way I was teaching Meggan numbers. Go me. And speaking of which... Doug? Still up for helping her out with things? She's been asking me what the computers are and I figure she'd best get it from the expert. ;)

It's not a magic wand, it's a wych. *grins*

I'm always up for helping my cartoon buddy learn about the wonderful world of computers. We'll just have to set groundrules about 'eating' the power supply for Mr. Computer. :)

And yeah, it is. Definitely demonic. But it's on the test, and I was to take it end of the month, so it has to be done. With the sacrifice of traffic cones along the way.

New York just starts you too late, that's my theory. If either of you had started learning parallel parking at twelve in a pickup truck, it'd be a piece of cake by now.

*grins* Well, I was learning to drive at twelve, but it was mostly going very fast in one direction and not so much with the actual parking. And then there was that thing with the Thames and the wading and I wasn't allowed to drive any more...

*grins* Something like that. And Jeff the God of Spoons wasn't being very helpful. ;)

Sort of the wooden version of me - holds a charge. But I'm actually getting some interesting ideas from Nate's self-defence lessons; if I could work out a way of charging it up with my mutant power, I'd have a portable power source for if/when I ever lose my magical methadone supplement. One I could hit people with too. ;) It'd be handy for those mystical dead spots.

if you just need wood I have some sticks....mostly cedar but I can see if there is any elm. I use them for smudging. there's a nice little herbal shop in town that can order special herbs and things too.

Oh, it's fine. Got one, and that's all I need. No point getting greedy, although two would be like those fighting sticks I see Alison working with sometimes...

And yeah, know the shop well. Where do you think I get my potion supplies from? *grins* I think I'd like to hear more about this smudging thing you do, tho'.

aaaaaah. that explains the knowing look the storeclerk gave me when I said I went to Xavier's.

Smudging is when you burn herbs and other plants for a smoke bath, which is used to purify people, ceremonial and ritual space, and ceremonial tools and objects.

I used one on Forge before went into surgery, in my room after I had the baby...I wanted to smudge the medlab but the doctors said I couldn't.

Oh, I think I've seen that somewhere in one of Strange's books - the Australian aboriginals do the same thing, I think. And yeah, they know me pretty well there - I have to get them to order in some wierd stuff sometimes. What they can't get I find online.

smudging - at least the kind I know - only uses some fairly basic ingrediants that can be found relatively easily. it ain't changed much over the years.

*nods* Yeah. They use eucalyptus leaves to do something similar. And there's this pointing the bone curse that's just whacked. And yay for basic ingredients - I've had to stop doing some spells 'cause it's just getting too expensive to find the stuff to do them with.

Loose tobacco? Yeah, there's actually a couple of smoker's shops that sell the loose stuff - back home we used to use it to cut dope with, make it go a bit further.

*coughs* Not that I do that any more, of course.

Just so both of you know, I have a very long lecture stored up about what will happen if there are cloves smoked in my room. I never got to use it on my cousin and it has been percolating, much like good strong coffee.

The best parts are in French, but I could have Doug translate!

No smoking of anything in your room, roomie. Well, there was the once with the hanging out of the window and only having one cigarette, but that was after Meg got brought back and I didn't want to leave her to satisfy the evil habit that nerves makes worse. Besides, Meg's quick to tell me how Stinky my clothes get - don't think I'll be stinking up the room with anything more than that oil burner I got, the one with the lavender and mint for those post pre-cog headaches of yours...

*nods* Those places they sell fancy cigars and lighters and the rest at. They usually have loose tobacco and papers, tho' you don't need to buy papers, obviously.

I don't think they have those on the rez. everyone just smoked the cheapest cigs they could get.

Ah, but this is the Big City, and they have shops for everything. *grins* Although there's any number of people who would tell you rolling your own is cheaper than buying even the cheapest and nastiest brand.

And yep, nicer than a zippo. There's novelty ones shape like cars or guns and stuff, even.

I don't know how to make electricity tasty...

Does she eat real food too or have we just been wasting our time fattening her up?

Oh no, real food is good. More than - from what I can understand, the electricity is something she does to fill up, or when she can't get at any proper food. Or to scare the shite out of people. *wry*
