The downside of being connected to London right now is that I'm dealing with a whole range of reactions to Lizzie's death, from wanting to throw a party to curling up on the couch watching The Crown and sobbing into my pillow. NONE of these are what I'm actually feeling, mind. Well, maybe a little bit of the first, as any self-respecting punk/anarchist type would have. But fuck it all, this is annoying.

I need booze. That'll fix things.

Well, I'm not happy about it, as some might expect, but I do feel sorry for her family and I've no idea why people would want to celebrate the death of an old woman who lost her husband of multiple decades within the last year.

Anyhow, I lit a votive for her yesterday on my way into Salem Centre. Hopefully she rests easily, whatever she believed, and that she rests easily.

Yeah, she was an old lady and a widow. And she didn't personally invade any where. But she was also the wealthiest woman in the world and did fuck all to relieve any of the suffering her own people - let alone any other country's - with that wealth. She kept the spoils of the Empire even after being asked nicely to repatriate them and she did more than a little meddling with politics to make sure things stayed the way they were.

Shouldn't it be the American government you're angry at? I mean, Britain's certainly been no saint with regard to land grabs and forcing Anglo beliefs on everyone - I'm Irish, I get that - but wasn't it more specifically the American government who cheated the tribes out of land and warred with them and then stuck them in slowly shrinking reservations? And broke literally every treaty ever made between the tribes and the government?
