I s'pose everyone's expecting something out of me on this whole drinking issue, since I'm one of the main 'offenders' and make no bones about it. I've been drinking since I was... 14, I think, and smoking a lot longer, and you don't even want to know about the rest of it, because you Americans tend to freak out when anyone mentions anything that might be an illegal susbtance. For me, having a drink when I go clubbing is no big deal. I don't do it to be rebellious, or cool, or to fuck over the establishment, I do it because I enjoy it.

I ain't going to threaten to leave, or refuse to go out on any of the clubbing trips if I can't drink. I think 21's a bloody stupid drinking age (it's 18 back home) but then again there's a whole lot of stuff I think's stupid over here and I still came back. But I ain't about to stop drinking either - I won't do it on the 'official' school trips, but in me own time? That's my business. I get caught, that's my lookout.

I'm already trying to shake one habit, I ain't about to make things more difficult than they have to be. 'Cause, believe me, it's already fucking hard.

I think the complaint was that it was done on an offical trip, and not that it was done in and of itself.

But then, I still do not understand the appeal of being drunk, though perhaps that is due to my rather bad expierence with losing control of myself.

I know for most people is isn't about being drunk. I still don't understand drinking to get drunk. I do not understand at all why it is such a big deal to go to a club that serves alcohol, or one that does not.

I suspect my opinion is coloured by a set of annoying expierences clubbing before and in Brighton - I will --never-- understand people who try to drink the entire drink list alphabetically. (Or people who snap their gum.)

Yes. Most evenings, we did. Not every evening, but most. I suspect that is.. why I do not entirely understand the appeal. I like wine. I like the effect is has on my meal. The effect it has on -me- is secondary.

I just .. I do not understand what the big deal about it is. If people are going to make a scene and storm off they should do it about big things, not little things like whether or not they get caught drinking. They got caught, they knew it would get them, in trouble, what is the problem? Take the consequences of the decision and live with it.

I have spent -way- too much time on my Ethics homework tonight, I think.

It's not the drinking that set me off this morning. Well, it was, but indirectly. You're right, the drinking is small stuff. We'd get around it anyway, so what's the big deal? But little things like that have been adding up for nearly a year now, and I'm tired of feeling like I really don't belong here and not actually doing anything about it. So this time I am.

If this is just Mr. Marko, he's insane and works for Sauron. Ignore him.

No it isn't, thanks though. I was ready to leave long before my exchange with Marko.

That's all?

Heh.

Alphonso offered me my first drink when I was ... five? six? Seven? Something like that. And that wasn't unusual - a glass of wine with a meal. A little fortification during siesta. I was drinking Fath - Alphonso's companions under the table by the time I left his house.

Some people just can't hold their liquor. But here, it is illegal, even though I am of age where I come from.

They're so stupid.
