Everyone else is doing it...
Apr. 16th, 2004 10:09 amI s'pose everyone's expecting something out of me on this whole drinking issue, since I'm one of the main 'offenders' and make no bones about it. I've been drinking since I was... 14, I think, and smoking a lot longer, and you don't even want to know about the rest of it, because you Americans tend to freak out when anyone mentions anything that might be an illegal susbtance. For me, having a drink when I go clubbing is no big deal. I don't do it to be rebellious, or cool, or to fuck over the establishment, I do it because I enjoy it.
I ain't going to threaten to leave, or refuse to go out on any of the clubbing trips if I can't drink. I think 21's a bloody stupid drinking age (it's 18 back home) but then again there's a whole lot of stuff I think's stupid over here and I still came back. But I ain't about to stop drinking either - I won't do it on the 'official' school trips, but in me own time? That's my business. I get caught, that's my lookout.
I'm already trying to shake one habit, I ain't about to make things more difficult than they have to be. 'Cause, believe me, it's already fucking hard.

Date: 2004-04-16 07:49 pm (UTC)I suspect my opinion is coloured by a set of annoying expierences clubbing before and in Brighton - I will --never-- understand people who try to drink the entire drink list alphabetically. (Or people who snap their gum.)
Yes. Most evenings, we did. Not every evening, but most. I suspect that is.. why I do not entirely understand the appeal. I like wine. I like the effect is has on my meal. The effect it has on -me- is secondary.
