I tell you, I'm this close to packing all this study thing in and hitching me way to somewhere where there aren't exams. That or finding a memory-enhancing spell in me books and helping me poor, confused head.

And exams time proper ain't even started yet...

Someone tell me this is all worth it in the end? It ain't like I'm every going to be able to go to university, but tell me finishing high school is worth all this brain busting.

I'm off for a fag break, before me head explodes and makes a mess of Manuel's room. Well, a bigger mess. Somebody needs another crash course in Laundry 101.

Note: I'm just joking about Florida and the spell. Really. Well, mostly.

Stick with me...

I can give you the sort of life you want, and without all the brain-busting.

And I do _not_ need a crash-course in Laundry 101. I need to find a maid service, and hire _them_ to do it. Only fair and proper, after all. I still can't believe people are expected to just do their own. How plebean!

Manuel

What, seriously?

Yes, seriously.

Why does this come as such a surprise to you people?

Really.

Well, self sufficeincy is just one of thoes things I expect everyone to be able to be. Not knowing how to do your own laundry in this day is very... Mary Lennox not knowing how to dress herself.

I can do it.

I've done it before.

I detest it. So why should I waste my valuable time and effort in doing it, when I could just pay a domestic to take care of the details for me while I attend to other things?

Seems perfectly reasonable, unless you've got some sort of jihad against domestics. Then again, you're an American, you might...

Nope, I was just commenting on the fact that you were talking about "a crash-course in Laundry 101", which makes it sound as though you don't know how. There will always be people in service jobs, be they food service or domestic service. I've got no problem with it, as long as they get treated well.

Seems kinda lazy to hire somebody just because you don't feel like doing something, though.

I would tend to agree, but what if you don't have the time to do it yourself?

Nothing wrong with that. A couple of my cousins worked for a cleaning service to help pay for college--good, steady work, and most of the time they got along pretty well with the people they were helping out. I just don't see the point of dropping a bunch of cash every week to get out of . . . maybe, what, half an hour's work, since it's not like you have to sit around and watch the machines go, unless you really don't have time.

Yeah, I agree, laundry's not so bad. Paying someone to mow the lawn or shovel the walk, on the other hand, makes _perfect_ sense to me.

Heh. My parents relied on the free help for those. :)

Oho. Conned our way out of it, did we? :)

Dad got a riding mower when I was twelve--we've got big yards. So I didn't mind mowing the lawn so much.

I was a willful little monster of a child, by which I mean I'm small and not very good at lifting and pushing stuff - or so my father believes.
